Steel Joins List of Prominent GOP Elected Officials in Supporting Harkey
(Sacramento, CA) – Board of Equalization Member Michelle Steel announced today her support for Diane Harkey to replace her on the Board. Steel is retiring due to term limits and is running for Orange County Supervisor.
“I know Diane Harkey will continue the fight to protect small business owners and taxpayers from an overreaching tax system,” said Michelle Steel. “The Board of Equalization has tremendous influence on California tax policy, and that’s why we need a staunch taxpayer advocate and finance expert like Diane Harkey serving on the Board. I’m proud to endorse her.”
Michelle Steel joins a long list of Harkey supporters, including many of Southern California’s most trusted elected leaders. The 4th BOE Seat encompasses all of Orange County, along with San Diego, Imperial, Riverside and portions of San Bernardino Counties.
After a successful 30-year career in business finance, Diane Harkey was elected to the California State Assembly in 2008, representing the 73rd Assembly District. As Vice Chair of the Appropriations Committee, she earned a reputation as one of the Legislature’s leading fiscal hawks.
