Harkey Totals Over $675,000 Raised Through December 31
(Dana Point, CA) – Assemblywoman and 4th District Board of Equalization front-runner Diane Harkey picked up the fundraising pace in the second half of 2013, bringing her fundraising totals to over $675,000.
That’s good news for Harkey considering that the BOE covers over 4.3 million voters – a total that’s nearly impossible to connect with unless a candidate dominates the GOP slate cards and has strong fundraising totals. Harkey is the only candidate with both.
“Winning a Board of Equalization seat is unlike any other race in the State,” said Harkey Strategist Tim Clark, who also directed Michelle Steel’s successful Board of Equalization campaign. “You try and build name identification by connecting with the voters as many times as possible. With an expected 1.5 million voters casting Primary ballots, this becomes an expensive race. That’s why slate mail is essential.
“Diane is on 7 million pieces of slate mail, which means she’ll get her message out multiple times to the target voters. She’s made the right investments to win this race, and made it very expensive for any challenger to penetrate in a meaningful way.”
