RETURNING THE GOLD TO CALIFORNIA | INCREASE PRIVATE SECTOR JOB CREATION
Returning the gold to California

California leads the nation in unemployment and regulation.  In the areas of taxation, regulation and cost of living, we rank as one of the worst states in which to do business.  This must change if we are to compete in the world economy.  We need our bright young graduates and those already in the workforce to be able to find living wage salaries in growing industries or fields of endeavor. Our university, college and community college system has won the acclaim of the world.  We must find a way to keep our educated workforce in-state once they graduate.

With high double digit unemployment and more regulations being passed in the legislature daily, our existing employers are being hit with more regulatory requirements, fines and harassment more frequently.  In a time when it is important to encourage private sector job creation and innovation in our state, Sacramento is sending the wrong signal.  We must:

  • Reduce regulation to encourage private sector employment ensuring California can compete in the world economy. For starters, suspend AB 32 Green House Gas Reduction legislation and reign in California Air Resources Board and Water Quality Boards that seem to be progressing with more and more draconian measures to kill off existing businesses.
  • Proposition 23 would allow for temporary relief, as was originally envisioned when AB 32 was passed.  This is not the time to increase the cost of fuel, electricity and other necessities of life with a California only Cap and Trade policy.  We simply can’t afford another tax on working, retired or the throngs of unemployed people of our state.

To truly spur employment in those areas of the state with 30% unemployment – ensure California has a steady, reliable supply of water.  Turn the pumps on and plan for future storage, as well as other methods to battle recurring droughts. Reliable water and power, and friendly business climate will ensure that California does not become a third world nation.
