San Diego County Assessor and former Chairman of the California State Board of Equalization and the California State Franchise Tax Board, Ernest J. “Ernie” Dronenburg, today announced his support of Diane Harkey for California State Board of Equalization.
“Diane has my full support. She has proven her financial expertise while serving in the State Legislature on numerous fiscal committees including Vice Chair of Revenue and Taxation, and Appropriations,” said Dronenburg. “It is important to our cities, counties, and business communities that we elect a leader with her depth of understanding, who also works well with both sides of the aisle to accomplish policies that will enable California to grow jobs and our economy and protect business owners.”
“Diane is fully equipped to hear appeals from citizens about tax disputes and work successfully with the five member board clarifying tax policy and setting pro-growth interpretations for various business regulations,” said Dronenburg. “Diane understands that taxpayers need to be heard and fairly represented,” said Dronenburg.
An expert in state and local taxes with over 30 years experience, Dronenburg has served as Chairman of both the California State Board of Equalization and the Franchise Tax Board. Dronenburg’s depth of knowledge, experience and accomplishments also include sponsoring and drafting the California Taxpayer Bill of Rights and the original Proposition 13 Rules and Regulations.
“It’s an honor to receive Ernest Dronenburg’s endorsement,” said Harkey. “He is widely respected and remembered as a strong taxpayer advocate for his leadership while serving the State of California. He knows the challenges and depth of understanding needed to serve the constituents on the State Board of Equalization.”
Ernie Dronenburg joins former BOE member Claude Parrish and current Board of Equalization members Michelle Steel and George Runner. Diane has received the support from numerous tax groups and business associations including The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, TaxPAC, California New Car Dealers Association, California Realtors, Hispanic 100, and The New Majority. The Board of Equalization 4th District includes San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, Orange, and San Bernardino Counties.
